その問題の「20cm大きいフェリー」が、先月、ついにイタリアの造船所で進水しました。

First Cruise Ferry for Grimaldi Group (Naples)

Naples (Italy): Last Friday the 22nd of June, the launching ceremony of the cruise ferry “Cruise Roma” took place at the Fincantieri shipyards of Castellammare di Stabia, near Naples. Godmother of the vessel was Mrs. Paola Grimaldi, wife of the Group’s President Guido Grimaldi. The “Cruise Roma”, which is expected to be delivered at the beginning of 2008, is the first of four cruise ferries ordered by the Grimaldi Group to Fincantieri for the strengthening of its maritime services in the Mediterranean. With a length of 225 metres, a width of 30,40 metres and a maximum speed of 28 knots, this unit will be the fastest and most modern of its type in the Mediterranean and it will have a total loading capacity of 3.000 linear metres of rolling cargo, 215 cars and about 2.300 passengers. The “Cruise Roma” is being built to satisfy any type of clientele and will offer full comfort onboard. The vessel will feature 19 suites, 50 junior suites and 400 standard cabins, an a la carte restaurant, a self service bar, a casino, a games room, an internet cafe, a boutique, a supermarket, a swimming pool, a gymnasium, a sauna, a solarium, a children’s playroom, a disco, etc. The new cruise ferry will be deployed on the daily Civitavecchia-Barcelona link run by the Group since 2004 to further consolidate the results achieved in 2006 when about 200.000 passengers and 50.000 trailers were transported on this route. It has been estimated that, through the deployment of the “Cruise Roma” on the above route, the Group will shift a further 30.000 trailers per year from the roads to the “motorways of the seas”with important environmental benefits for the community. The purchase of the “Cruise Roma” is to be considered within a wider and more ambitious strategy that will lead the Group’s volume of investments to about Euro 2 billion for the construction of 30 vessels in the next five years. By 2011, the Grimaldi fleet will consist of about 140 ro/ro multipurpose, car carrier, ro/pax ferry and cruise ferry vessels.
